Introduction of Honda R&D Innovation Lab Tokyo

Article of Honda R&D Technical Review Vol.30 No.1

Summary

The Honda R&D Innovation Lab Tokyo in Akasaka Biz Tower was established for product development in new areas related to artificial intelligence technology.
The standpoint of the people engaging in research and development was put first in creating this lab facility. A variety of different thoughts and hopes were therefore incorporated through open-minded collaboration that involved the architectural design firm and construction contractors.
Those thoughts and hopes were given concrete form in various ways. In addition to color, acoustics, and lighting design, there are discussion wagons and Dokodemo White Boards for a more effective use of space, smart frames surrounding them, stools with built-in storage space for water containers and other furniture, the displays of Honda items on bookshelves and glass walls for stimulating creativity, objects used to indicate the directions being taken in initiatives, idea generation-support systems, and other such implements and furnishings.
As a result, the Honda R&D Innovation Lab Tokyo received a New Office Promotion Award from the New Office Promotion Association.
